Job Duties:

  • Phase 1 and 2 of the role is to develop a mine operations organization.

Accountable for development of mine operations operating controls, programs, systems and processes. Includes:

  • Development of all mine operations expense and capital budgets, including workforce planning.
  • Work on a team to procurement all mine equipment and develop maintenance agreements.
  • Support development and design of all mine operations infrastructure – includes blasting explosives plant, mine dispatch infrastructure, as well as drainage and dewatering facilities.
  • Develop operations processes to support mine planning, ore quality and grade control programs as well as production forecasting.
  • Participate in development and execution of Reliability cantered Maintenance (RCM) programs (including master data and functional location development, reliability strategies, maintenance strategies, maintenance programs, spare parts, critical spares, and capital replacement programs).
  • Development of operations operating controls and support development of training and competency development programs and equipment ramp-up profiles.
  • Work collaboratively with mine maintenance, mine engineering, support services, and plant business areas to achieve all business plan objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with all functions including HR, LR, Supply Chain, learning and competency to ensure all departmental business objectives are achieved.
  • Staff your area with the resources planned per the master staffing plan and deploy them accordingly to manage the execution of programs.
  • Monitor, performance manage, grow and develop all direct report staff, as well as ensure process are adhered to ensure a capable and competent mine maintenance workforce.
  • Review progress and cost tracking reports and make corrections to execution as required.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, damage or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.

Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience:

  • Technical University Degree (Bachelor/Masters) B Sc in Mine Engineering, Geology or equivalent preferred but not necessary
  • Min 10 years of experience in a large open pit mine environment.
  • Maintenance planning and maintenance systems skills are highly desirable.
  • Strong Character with exceptional leadership and management skills.
  • The ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong safety commitment and improvement mindset.
